AFT/UFT Teacher Leaders Program  2013-2014 

Teacher Leader

Participated in a nine month program conducting action reserach around issues in educational policy, effective organizing, and collaborating with other teaching professionals to address the intended and unintended consequences in the classroom. Designed, producsed and led an educational presentation on English Language Learners and the lack of teacher informed policy decsions for union and city officials.

EBC High School for Public Service-Bushwick  2013-Present

Special Education Teacher

Currently serving the special needs student body within a community school of approximately five-hundred students. Plan and implement instruction for incoming freshmen with emphasis on teaching and co-teaching Algebra 1 in self-contained, inclusion and setts classes.  Other content specific classes include English and Earth Science. Serve as an advisor and mentor to a group of 25 adolescents through EBC's advisory program. Function as an advisor to EBC's Student Council.  Other duties include working as the community liaision to CBO's like El Puente, EBC, IAF and Metro IAF

 

Douglas Elliman Property  2008-2012

Concierge /Relief Handyman

Served in a pre-war 15-story 82-unit cooperative.  Handled all residential needs and inquiries at main lobby.  Worked with an extensive list of contacts of local merchants and service providers to satisfy any and all tenant requests.   Arranged travel for residents from the facility. Monitored site security.  Maintained logs of all daily activities.  Accepted and distributed all packages and deliveries accordingly.  Maintained a clean and organized environment.

 

Worked as a relief handyman on site to provide coverage for handymen who were out sick or on vacation.  Duties included assisting the resident manager in the daily operations and maintenance of the building.  Providing oversight of onsite construction projects while maintaining clear lines of communication between all stakeholders.  Attended to daily maintenance requests varying from fixing leaks, plumbing and electric issues to minor construction.  And took part of the buildings effort to incorporate green-building practice and work towards sustainability and energy efficiency to help reduce the buildings carbon footprint.

Executed and facilitated SES programs at assigned Title I school sites throughout New York City under the No Child Left Behind Act.  Oversaw the daily operations of three different schools in both the Bronx and Brooklyn region.  Acted as liaison between corporate and school administration to establish quality instructional programs to help close the achievement gap and promote academic progress. Oversaw the daily operations and administration of BioCom partners. Assisted PR practitioners with a variety of tasks, while managing  time-sensitive translation projects. Worked with the investor relations department to provide real-time data concerning clients.  Drafted client reports of all coverage obtained.  Created media lists for targeted medium outlets.  Managed all company financial transactions.   

 

Nyack College  2003 - 2004

Admissions Counselor

Worked as a recruiter for higher education in the private college sector.  Met, interviewed and guided both student and parents through the college admissions process to the completion of enrollment.  Planned and implemented recruitment campaigns.  Maintained and developed relationships with administration of assigned region high schools.  Planned and oversaw outreach efforts at local events where qualified students would be recruited.

Led workshops on sound, lighting, stagecraft and house management.  Negotiated contracts with vendors for costumes, sound and lighting.  Managed a group of teenage production assistants with ticket sales, concessions and the house set up and break down.  Assisted in stage construction and lighting design.    Organized backstage dressing room, costume and props.   

 

Agape Christian Center 2008-2010, Queens NY 

Young Adults Director 

Developed a vision and mission for the young adult population to find creative ways for cultivating and fostering community.   Created and managed a budget for yearlong programming and events.  Led and taught several whole group lectures, workshops and small groups on life skills.  Trained and managed a number of volunteers in providing support to young-adult led drama productions, outings and retreats.  

 

Abounding Grace Ministries 2005-2008, Manhattan NY

Young Adults Leader

Pioneered a ministry that addressed the spiritual, emotional and social needs of a young-adult population from the ages of 17-25.  Worked collaboratively with existing ministry leaders to re-engage former attendees and current members via interest-based activities, events and workshops.  Led and taught workshops on spiritual formation and basic leadership skills.  Trained volunteers on small group leadership, conflict resolution, and event facilitation.  Mentored emerging leaders to build capacity in newly developed ministries.
